REC offers rebates to residential consumers who install energy efficient heat pumps and programmable thermostats.

Before purchasing and/or installing a heat pump, we recommend you:

  • select an EnergySTAR®-rated product;
  • get at least three bids before contracting the work; and
  • verify your heat and air company is qualified to install heat pumps.

Only REC members qualify for rebates, and the following conditions must be met:

  • rebate claim must be made within six months of installation;
  • equipment must be new;
  • a copy of the verified Manual J calculation from the HVAC dealer or ClimateMaster representative/wholesaler must be provided for all Geothermal units;
  • a copy of the sales slip or work order and a copy of the product rating certificate showing the AHRI reference number (to verify equipment meets energy efficiency standards) must be submitted along with REC’s Energy Efficiency Rebate Program Application (click on the link); and
  • member must arrange for an inspection by calling (405) 756-3104 to set up an appointment 

Heat Pump Rebates                                                                                                   

Rebates are available for the installation of heat pumps for newly constructed homes, apartments and other structures billed under REC's residential rate.

Rebates are as follows:

  • Geothermal
    • $1,050 per ton for new construction or conversion
      • Minimum 18.0 EER & 3.6 COP for open loop units (desuperheater not required)
      • Minimum 15.9 EER & 3.3 COP for closed loop units (desuperheater not required)
    • Additional $225 per unit installed with a desuperheater
  • GSHP to GSHP
    • $375 per ton for new construction or conversion
      • Minimum 3.0 EER increase & 3.6 COP for open loop units
      • Minimum 3.0 EER increase & 3.3 COP for closed loop units
  • Split Systems
    • $1,050 per ton for new construction or conversion
      • Minimum 18.0 EER & 3.6 COP for open loop units (desuperheater not required)
      • Minimum 15.5 EER & 3.3 COP for closed loop units (desuperheater not required)
    • Additional $225 per unit installed with desuperheater
  • Air Source/Mini-Split
    • $500 per unit for replacement and $750 for fuel conversion or new construction.
      • Minimum of 17.0 SEER 2 rating

Programmable Thermostat Rebate

Rebate available for existing and new homes.

  • Rebate amount is 50 percent of the cost of the thermostat up to $50
  • The thermostat must be ENERGY STAR rated
  • Limit of up to two per member address/location ($50 max rebate)
  • Rebate claim must be made with 90 days of purchase
  • Must include a copy of the original dated sales receipt along with REC's Programmable Thermostat Rebate Application (click on the link)
  • Member must arrange for an inspection by calling (405) 756-3104 to set up an appointment
